The Fort Worth-Mbabane community center project was funded by Sister Cities International’s Africa Urban Poverty Alleviation Program (AUPAP). AUPAP is a 3-year program focusing of developing such partnerships in Africa. AUPAP aims at alleviating poverty in 25 African cities through water, sanitation, and health project led jointly by U.S. and African sister city programs. The sister cities come together to learn from each other and develop sustainable projects that will have a long-term benefit on the community.

Fort Worth Sister Cities International was one of the first programs to apply and be awarded a $115,000 grant from AUPAP.  Their progress is documented in a three episode documentary that chronicles their relationship and the project.
