Step into a realm of wonder in The Hermitage Museum – one of the world’s most prestigious museums – as you discover the splendors of St. Petersburg. Stand in the same hall as Nobel Prize recipients while touring Stockholm’s City Hall with its beautiful murals and architecture and then head to the Island of Djurgarden that’s considered the city’s outdoor recreation center. Groups by Design, a fully accredited travel agency with offices in Louisville, Kentucky, is the designated travel partner for the Scandinavia, Russia, & Baltic Cruise. They will handle the booking of cabins as well as optional pre and post cruise travel arrangements in Copenhagen. They can also help identify and book excellent round-trip air fares to Copenhagen as well as air-fares to Hamburg, ground transportation from Hamburg to Copenhagen and one-way return fares from Copenhagen.
Showcasing Sister Cities and Rotary Cooperative Programs
The Scandinavian, Russia, Baltic Cruise on the Norwegian Getaway is a unique travel experience and opportunity to visit Baltic cities that are linked with cities in the United States and that have organized Rotary Clubs! The cruise has been designed at a time and location to accommodate Rotarians attending the International Rotary Conference in Hamburg, Germany and will spotlight the many cooperative programs between Rotary clubs and Sister Cities programs. In addition the numerous individuals who are members of both organizations will be recognized!
Enrichment Programs
Daily networking opportunities will provide cruisers a chance to share experiences and programs and explore new joint ventures. On the “at-sea” days cruisers will come together for an exclusive Enrichment Program featuring interactive presentations on both Rotary and Sister Cities. During the formal as well as informal networking, cruisers will share best practices for strengthening and expanding Sister City and Rotary programs.
Connect with Sister Cities and Rotary Clubs
The Sister Cities Scandinavian, Russia, Baltic Cruise will provide an enriching educational experience. For those Rotarians attending the International Rotary Conference in Hamburg, Germany, train transportation to the cruise departure port of Copenhagen as well as overnight accommodations can be organized upon request. Opportunities for those interested in visiting Rotary Clubs and/or Sister Cities Organization in the five port-of-call (Berlin, St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Helsinki, and Stockholm) will be facilitate as arrangements can be made and agreement with hosting groups negotiated.
Cruise Leadership
Sister Cities International is pleased to have two leaders in both Sister Cities and Rotary programs serving as co-leaders of the cruise programming. Rotary 7750 District Governor Carol Burdette (Former Member of Sister Cities International Board of Directors) and Dr. Jane Cahaly, Sister Cities International State Representative for South Carolina (Long-Time Member of the Rotary Club of Anderson). DG Burdette currently serving her second term as DG for Rotary District 7750, in addition to her Sister City Service at the national level is also the former mayor of a South Carolina Sister City and currently serves as the Chairman of South Carolina Sister Cities. Dr. Cahaly is a retired professor of Education and Director of International Programs at Anderson University and in addition to representing South Carolina, currently serves as the Sister Cities International State Representative Liaison for the 50 US States and as the Chairman of the Anderson Areas Sister Cities Association. Both program leaders are passionate about Rotary and SCI and have traveled extensively representing both and in pursuit of “service above self”!
